McDonald’s

Here is the unaltered post that I will be evaluating today. It’s important to read their caption. McDonald’s is promoting their BBQ sauce and not necessarily their chicken nuggets. At first glance, I thought this was for chicken nuggets. Maybe it’s both, but their caption only mentions the BBQ sauce.

Here is the second problem that I have with their post. The BBQ sauce is dead center in the photo. The rule of thirds is not really being applied here. From another perspective, the bottom goes up until half way through the BBQ sauce container. The next part extends from the sauce until the thumb of the person holding the chicken nugget and the top third extends from the thumb upward.

While I do like the background, I think they could have shot it at a better angle. There is is line in the texture of the background that cuts the picture in half. It kind of bothers be and divides the picture into two separate halves in my mind.

The last picture covers the ‘white space’ of the photo. This is a great example of ‘white space’ that really isn’t white space. It adds a really nice rustic element to the photo which I really love. I think they are going for a rustic, genuine feeling with the background. It works, but people don’t usually associate McDonald’s with those two words. Maybe they are trying to change that.
