Why Trump will win again in 2020

This is what’s going to happen up until November, folks:

Most people will continue to vote out of fear.

→ Russia! Trump! Coronavirus! Stock market! Everything Trump has done! Possible recession!

Can you even begin to measure the fear factor of peachy keen 2015 compared to 2020?

Fear is about twice as powerful as positive gain.

If you were a poor or at-risk person now, you’d be scared shitless. At-risk in any way. Privileged.

Revolutions are scary, which Bernie is offering, and Warren was offering too, in a smarter but less-relatable way.

Joe, however, is safe. Joe promotes loss aversion. The counterpart to fear is safety. Joe will take the win on the primaries, because of this. After all, about 20% of people decided who they were going to vote for just a few days before the primaries. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Joe has an abysmal ad strategy and is too nice and “sleepy” to pack an emotional punch. He is winning purely on safety, which the Republicans are using to their advantage.

Trump is using playground reverse psychology by “encouraging” Bernie — Trump is dumb, but not that dumb to literally reveal his strategy and preferences in his tweets. He’s taunting his greatest threat, rather than encouraging his greatest weakness.

Once Joe wins the nomination, Trump and crew will take a LIVING SHIT on Joe’s ad strategy/spend and lack of emotional pull, wreak havoc through fear-mongering, and win the election again.

You know what’s stronger than the safety that Joe offers? ACTUAL FEAR.

That is what the Trump campaign will throw at us, and they won’t hesitate to start a war to seal the deal.

Empowered people fighting for a revolution is the strongest force against the fear-mongering, and Joe gives us none of that. Safety is very different from revolution and empowerment.

Bloomberg proved that you can just walk in last-minute, throw money around at some ads that are largely based on fear, and get *more delegates* than Elizabeth Warren, who has been campaigning tirelessly this whole damn time!

Yes, just by emotionally manipulating people with enough money towards fearful ads that would get you a C+ in marketing school.

Of course democrats can rally together and fight fear with fear, fire with fire, and take a Bloomberg approach, together.

However, that clashes with Joe’s “nice guy” personality, and it turns out that conservatives have a stronger response to fear and threats than liberals (according to common sense, and an article published in Science magazine.)

Trump and his cohorts know that scared people seeking safety are much more influenceable than empowered people seeking revolution. If Joe wins, Trump does, too.

It’s still a “smart people / ivory tower / logical” game to the DNC. If they think and logic their way through it, the politics will do their thing, because they’re “smart”, and other democrats SHOULD be too. Otherwise, those people just aren’t worth anyone’s time!

That is perhaps one of the biggest downfalls of liberalism. Not that conservatives are any better in the empathy and understanding department, but we should definitely try to be better.

Good luck and godspeed to those who believe that Bernie or Joe can do it.

Hopefully this either helps some people move on, or gets them angry and fired up!

From now on I’m just going to focus my efforts and attention on flipping the senate. That’s the most powerful way to combat Trump that I can see at this point.

I will definitely #VoteBlueNoMatterWho — a few minutes of my time for a lost cause isn’t that big of a deal — but at this point, the senate is where it’s at, as well as paying attention to sub-issues and long-term efforts like redistricting.
