A Little Christmas Poem

Imagine a child less than ten years old,

looking out of the window on December twenty-fourth.

Looking for a man coming down the street covered in snow.

A boy not willing to give up even a snippet of hope.

The sun had gone down long ago;

the stars were hidden behind the clouds.

There was a flickering in the eyes of the boy

as down the street in the biting cold

he saw his father coming towards him on his way home.

Just as I hoped for this boy,

I also hope for you that you will not be alone

at Christmas back in your home.
