Thinking of Starting a Creative Business or Practice?

I remember the day I ‘unpublished’ a dozen books and shut down my entire digital operation. I made a great monthly income, I had a bunch of regular consulting clients, and I made sales every month…

What are social media comments?

Did you ever wonder why you comment on social media?

Managers think it’s like talking to potential customers expressing their opinion on products and services so essentially it’s a sort of market analysis tool.

Others assume it’s a chance to let off steam which until now didn’t exist while nowadays they can freely use to write any kind of aberration against anyone without undergoing any consequence.

In fact, some think that social media has given a microphone to millions of people who do not know what to do with it so they use it to chatter, rant, insult, exchange all kinds of opinions, make wishes, publish holy icons or offend different faiths, incite the social group they belong against who is “different”, as it’s happening when some kind of authority urges the boycott of entire nations or social categories or industries that are guilty of something that damages the mass, literally or hypothetically.

Alas, it happened with social media: the other side of the coin.
On the one hand, social channels gave voice to instances that previously did not find space on the media such as newspapers or TV. The other side of the coin is represented by the fact that millions know they can count on social networks to give free rein to their frustrations, fears, anxieties, obsessions, disappointments, believing that this frees them from the suffering that these mental states cause — while vomiting all sorts of negativity in a public space, they only feed the pain.

A fire is not extinguished by throwing petrol but by starving it to death, stopping feeding it with substances that burn easily, reducing it to a tiny flame that will soon stop burning and then go out.

The answer depends on who asks the question.
For a company, they can be a way of knowing feelings, habits, desires, interests, problems, ideas and opinions of fans and from the analysis of the comments to obtain data to better understand the audience and get a better segmentation. This approach also leads to modifying products and services in order to better serve clients, satisfying their needs and solving their problems more accurately. This could be the answer for and from entrepreneurs.

For neuroscience experts or futurists looking for trends to foretell our future, comments can be a great source of data however, they must be carefully analyzed because the quality of the contents published on social media tends to follow the trends we can observe in all human systems. At this time, for example, lots of individuals are prey to very strong mental conditioning that determines opinions and behaviours they are unaware of since they let themselves be carried away by the Conditioned Collective Mind which deeply affects the thoughts and actions of the crowds.

I think comments represent a way of expressing one’s identity, they are an opportunity to get those famous 15 minutes of fame that Andy Warhol spoke about even if the great artist could not imagine that span of time would become a compulsive behaviour and minutes would have turned into hours in front of a computer in the vain attempt to experience a life that in the virtual world can be pleasant and full of personal gratification, which, however, vanish as soon as the monitor is switched off.

With comments, we are “always on the air” and the microphone is our tool to shout out to the world “Hey, look at me, I also exist and I’m better than you!”

For others, comments are the result of the continuous stream of thoughts the mind creates and which leads many people to express their opinion on any topic with the aim of fueling the ego’s need to always prevail over everyone.

For some, comments are an opportunity to try to calm the waters in pointless discussions, interruptions that often end up hidden by comments that others prefer because they are full of insults, offences or acts of true or alleged bullying.

Did you ever wonder why you comment on social media?
Do you like or dislike to type your opinions and if you like it why is it so?
Do you simply comment on others’ opinions or do you expect the discussion to follow up?
